Privacy Policy

Partner Center Alternative Names (“the extension”) is a Chrome extension published by Joachim Carrein. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles and where it goes. In short: the extension does not send any data to us or to any third party. Everything happens inside your own browser and, where needed, directly between your browser and Microsoft’s own services.

What the extension does

The extension runs on a single Microsoft Partner Center page — the Granular Delegated Admin (GDAP) customer list at https://partner.microsoft.com/dashboard/v2/customers/granularadminaccess/*. On that page it:

Adds one extra read-only column, “Alternative Name”, showing each customer’s primary domain (or display name where no domain is available).
Lets the signed-in user assign a personal, custom label to a customer.
Makes the page’s existing search box also match those custom labels.

Data the extension handles

Customer information shown on the page — company names, domains, and tenant identifiers. This is business/organizational data that Microsoft already displays to the signed-in administrator. The extension reads it to build the extra column.
Microsoft authentication tokens — short-lived tokens that the Microsoft Partner Center page itself places in the browser’s sessionStorage. The extension reads them only at the moment it needs to call a Microsoft API, and uses them solely to authorize those read-only lookups. The extension never stores these tokens and never transmits them anywhere except to Microsoft’s own API endpoints.
Your custom labels — any alternative name you type for a customer.

Where the data goes

Network requests are made only to Microsoft’s own domains: partner.microsoft.com, api.partnercenter.microsoft.com, and api.partnercustomersecurity.microsoft.com. These are the same first-party services the Partner Center page already uses. The requests are read-only lookups to retrieve customer domains and names for display. The extension performs no administrative actions.
No data is ever sent to the developer or to any third party.
The extension contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no remote code. All of its code is contained within the extension package.

Data storage and retention

The extension uses chrome.storage.local, which keeps data on your device only:

A cache of customer domains/names, kept for up to 30 days to avoid repeating the same Microsoft API calls.
Your custom labels, kept until you change or remove them.
A small status record of the last data load — counts, timestamps and whether a lookup succeeded. It contains no customer names, domains or identifiers.

This data never leaves your browser. You can remove it at any time by clearing the extension’s storage or by uninstalling the extension.

Exporting and importing your labels

The extension’s toolbar popup lets you export your custom labels to a JSON file saved to a location you choose on your own device, and import that file back in — on the same browser or a different one. This is the only way the extension writes data outside chrome.storage.local, and it only happens when you click Export. Once the file is saved, it is entirely in your hands; the extension has no further involvement with it and nothing is uploaded anywhere. The exported file contains only your custom labels, never the cached customer domains or Microsoft authentication tokens.

Data sharing

We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties. We do not use or transfer your data for any purpose unrelated to the extension’s single purpose. We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Permissions

storage — to save the local cache and your custom labels on your device.
Host access to partner.microsoft.com and the two Microsoft API domains above — to run on the specific Partner Center page and to look up customer domains/names from Microsoft’s own APIs.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same location with a new “Last updated” date.
